Ayuda a reducir el riesgo de efectos secundarios por uso de inhalador1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.
Los medicamentos en aerosol salen proyectados del inhalador muy rápido, por lo que a menudo es muy difícil usar un inhalador correctamente, ya que este se debe presionar en el momento justo en que inhala8, 9.
Mejora su tratamiento. Cuando se usa solo un inhalador, los medicamentos terminan frecuentemente en la boca, la garganta y el estómago. Las cámaras de retención con válvulas pueden mejorar la conducción del medicamento hacia los pulmones en un factor de hasta cuatro veces10.
Se recomienda que los bebés y los niños más pequeños que no pueden utilizar la boquilla de la cámara usen una máscara facial11, 12. Es importante que esta se ajuste cómodamente a la cara y quede firme, a fin de que los usuarios reciban la dosis correcta de medicamento.
Para utilizar la boquilla eficazmente, el niño debe ser capaz de cerrar firmemente los dientes y labios alrededor de la boquilla para respirar lenta y profundamente y mantener la respiración durante unos segundos. Aquellos niños que no puedan realizar este procedimiento deberán usar una máscara facial.
